‘Years ago,’ writes Dheera, ‘when I was young, my father, an army man, was posted to a remote town in Central India. Those were the days before television and computers and fancy cars, almost before the world, as you know it, began. MY FRIEND SADHU SHIVA, is Dheera’s first book of fiction. It was inspired by her growing years in a military cantonment, surrounded by horses and wildlife. Jasbinder Singh, lent luster to her words with his wonderful line drawings. The book was included as a supplementary reader for grade IV students at a school in Powai, Mumbai.
